18th May 2017 – BBC Reports: “Mohamed Agliwan, a spokesman of the western Libya faction, allied to the internationally recognised government, said they had “liberated the base and destroyed all the forces inside”.

Libya Clashes kill at least 60 at Brak Al-Shati Airbase.

Misrata Militias who are responsible for the attack have stood up on TV and stated there was no slaughter or massacre. 19/05/2017

What really happened. Various sources (mostly by Social media analysis watching over 1000 Libyan Social Media accounts regularly and analysis of events/ethics by all factions):

On 17th May 2015 the Brak Al Shati Airbase suffered a 2 pronged attack on two fronts on the same day that:

  1. Newly trained Libyan Army recruits were stationed there.
  2. 500 Million of Aid had just landed at the airbase to distribute to the entire population in the area – including Medical Supplies. (now in the hands of Al Qaeda).

Al Shati Airbase for those that do not know is the Military Airport that services the Oil Crescent in Libya. Since Haftar’s forces from Eastern Libya took the Oilfields from  Ibrahim Jadran’s forces, and resisted Misrata Militias and Al Qaeda attacks the Oil in Libya has been switched on having been switched off for years. In time to prevent a catastrophe in Libya on the scale of Yemen. Due to Sanctions by the USA and UK, and all of Libya’s Assets held hostage and frozen in British Banks, the population are on the brink of famine, and had the oil not been switched on and the finances directed into the Libyan Economy, the Famine would have prevailed months ago.

The attack on the 18th May 2017 by Al Qaeda – successfully taking the Airfield was so well orchestrated, it would have required Satellite assistance. Something Libyans do not have but the Americans do.

The Slaughter at the Al Shatri Airbase Massacre was so bad, Al Qaeda shot the victims through the faces with so many bullets at the execution ( it was a mass execution, not a clash ) in order to prevent easy identification of bodies. As can be seen from the following image taken from the account of a Palestinian in Libya who was sent the original images by Al Qaeda leading the attack. Most of them escaped from Benghazi when Haftar cleansed Benghazi from Daesh and Al Qaeda and their allies the Benghazi Shura Council during Operation Dignity.

    1. The “New War in the Middle East” that you speak of is an old war. It’s been going on for 7 years. And regarding the Egyptians backing up forces in the east has been going on since Operation Dignity which started middle of 2015. ISIS was not driven out by Al Qaeda from Derna. It was driven out by Haftar’s forces and Operation Dignity.

    2. Al Qaeda and ISIS (they are one and the same thing in Libya and always have been) have been assisted by the Tripoli Regime and the Misrata Regime which have been in aliance on many occasions although recently that has changed. Assisted by the USA who have 500 plus Marines stationed at Misrata (responsible for the attack in Manchester) and the entirety of Tripoli. The Link is Saami Al Sadi, Abdel Hakim Belhaj and Al Rahmaan (the latter being the Defence Secretary of the Tripoli Regime and previous/current leader of ISIS and Al Qaeda.
